Mon 25 Sept '23
In anticipation of a huge amount of interest expected for auditions for Billy Elliot The Musical, being staged at The Q in April 2024, Free Rain are having an information evening for prospective cast (and parents) to find out what we're looking for and what will be required from cast members as part of this production.

Where: Cook Community Hub, 41 Templeton St, Cook.
When: Monday 25th September - 7pm
Billy Elliot: The Musical is a coming-of-age stage musical based on the 2000 film of the same name. The music is by Elton John, and the book and lyrics are by Lee Hall.
The plot revolves around Billy, a motherless British boy who begins taking ballet lessons. The story of his personal struggle and fulfilment are balanced against a counter-story of family and community strife caused by the 1984–85 UK miners' strike in County Durham, in North East England.
Prospective auditionees will be required to use the correct regional accent for their audition.
-
The roles of Billy, Michael and Debbie will be cast using more than 1 actor, with successful applicants sharing performances over the run.
-
The 'children's chorus' consisting of the girls in the Ballet School will be used at every performance.
-
The adult actors - Mrs. Wilkinson, Dad, Tony, Grandma et al will be cast singularly (with understudies).

This will be a physically intensive production, particularly for the child actors, with a compulsory school holiday workshop session in January 2024 required for the children in the cast.
