Headshot for Katie Lis

Katie Lis

Born and raised in Cairns, Katie first found her love of musical theatre as a young orphan in Oliver! with the Cairns Choral Society. This was followed by Joseph & the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, The Pirates of Penzance, Grease, Guys & Dolls, and The Producers.

Katie studied a Bachelor of Music in Music Theatre at the Australian Institute of Music in Sydney from 2013 to 2016. She then moved back to her hometown of Cairns where she worked as a Principal at the Paramour Cabaret Theatre, Cairns’ only permanent professional cabaret experience, for four years. During this time, Katie was involved in the development of a unique style of cabaret that the Paramour would later become well-known for.

Katie was the Vice President of the Cairns Junior Choral Society where she also volunteered her time to develop and facilitate a brand-new musical theatre program for performers aged 8-18.

Katie spent some time away from the stage while she lived in Canada, before moving to Canberra at the start of 2023. Katie is making her Canberra theatre debut in Free-Rain Theatre Company’s production of Spamalot.
