Headshot for Jill Young

Jill Young

Jill has worked in the production teams of several Free-Rain shows since the 2017 production of Wicked. Her onstage theatre credits include: Baby Boomers (Teatro Vivaldis), South Pacific (Queanbeyan Players), Sondheim in Bungendore, and Mrs Pearce in My Fair Lady (Free-Rain).

Jill loves musical theatre and hopes to direct a musical one day. She’s most comfortable in the wings being a ‘Jill-of-all-trades’ with a special interest in dialects and accent coaching. She has loved embracing her inner Geordie and helping the cast with their Geordie accents for Billy Elliot. She has also loved watching the “little ‘uns” experience their first show, and seen how they’ve grown. She’d like to congratulate the families of the junior ensemble, and the dance schools who have supported them all the way. It’s a big commitment to do a show, working around school schedules, and the effort and discipline doesn’t go unnoticed.

She is grateful once again for the ongoing mentorship and support she receives each show from the creative team, and thanks Jarrad who she loves working with, for teaching her even more stagecraft – “You are a legend in my eyes”.

She is super proud of watching her son Lachlan develop his skills as an actor in this show – it was on her bucket list to work on a big show together – tick! Finally to her other son and husband who have eaten way too many pizza pockets on the nights she was on dinner duty, thank you again for allowing her to go to her happy place and fill her cup.
